Idukki: In response to recent landslides, night travel has been prohibited on the Munnar-Kumily state highway. The decision was announced by District Collector Sheeba George to ensure the safety of travellers.
Landslides in Santhanpara and Chathurangapara, villages of Udumbanchola taluk, have caused extensive damage, raising concerns about the safety of the travellers on highway. To address these concerns, a temporary ban on night travel has been imposed in the section from Udumbanchola to Cheriyar. This restriction will be in effect from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The District Collector emphasised that the threat of landslides makes nighttime travel risky in these areas. As an alternative, passengers are advised to opt for parallel routes to reach their destinations safely.
