Pathanamthitta: Forest Minister AK Saseendran unveiled the ‘Ayyan ‘mobile app, designed to aid devotees undertaking the Sabarimala pilgrimage. The app, developed under the guidance of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary West Division, offers a range of services catering to various routes frequented by pilgrims, including Pampa, Sannidhanam, Swami Ayyappan Road, Pampa-Neelimala-Sannidhanam, Erumeli- Azhutakadav-Pampa, and Satram-Uppupara-Sannidhanam.
The Ayyan app goes beyond route guidance, providing information on ritual etiquette and general instructions for devotees. It is available in five languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi. Notably, the app features emergency helpline numbers for use in critical situations and functions seamlessly both online and offline. Pilgrims can install the app directly from the Google Play Store or by scanning the QR code at the forest path gates.
The app includes details about service centres on traditional forest path, medical emergency units, accommodations, the elephant squad teams, public toilets, distances from each base to Sannidhanam, fire force and police aid posts and free drinking water distribution points. Devotees selecting specific routes can receive timely alerts through the application.
Developed with technical support from Kanjirappally-based Leopard Tech Lab Private Ltd., the ‘Ayyan’ app is to assist Ayyappa devotees following traditional paths.
