Pathanamthitta: In a bid to improve communication services for Sabarimala pilgrims, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has installed 23 mobile towers along major routes to Sannidhanam.
Arrangements have been made to enhance services from the existing 12 mobile towers at key locations such as Plappally, Pampa Telephone Exchange, Pampa KSRTC, Pampa Guest House, Pampa Hospital, Pampa Hilltop, Nilakkal, Laha, Attathodu, Sabarimala CSC, and Sabarimala Telephone Exchange.
According to BSNL officials, they have set up 11 new mobile towers at various locations, including Elavunkal, Nilakkal Hospital, Pampa KSRTC, Sharamkuthi , Pranav Building, Sabarimala Guest House, Kailash Building, Police Barrack, Sabarimala Walkway, Appachimedu and Nilakkal Parking Area. The implementation of optical fibre connectivity at Sabarimala, Pampa, and Nilakkal, offering speeds of 300 Mbps, is also part of the comprehensive service upgrade. BSNL has extended its services to cater various departments, providing 150 internet connections through optical fibre, 26 hotlines, and 15 leased circuits through fibre connectivity.
Furthermore, preparations have been made to ensure the smooth operation of all oxygen parlours and emergency medical centres from Pampa to Sannidhanam.
BSNL has established 24-hour customer service centres at Pampa and Sabarimala, offering services such as obtaining new mobile connections, acquiring SIM cards from neighbouring states, and arrangements to pay bills and recharge. Additionally, pilgrims will have access to public Wi-Fi facilities at locations like Pampa Virtual Q and the Sabarimala Q complex.
