Kerala Administrative Tribunal seeks Government’s clarity on date for settling employees’ Dearness Allowance arrears

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Administrative Tribunal has sought clarification from the government regarding the disbursement date for Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears owed to employees, pending since 2021. The court has instructed the government to provide evidence of its timeline. If no notification is received by December 11, the tribunal warns of issuing a decision on the petition.

This development stems from a petition filed by employees highlighting the pending Dearness Allowance for the years 2021 and 2022. The petition, submitted by the office bearers of the NGO association and other organizational leaders, argues that the government’s reluctance to grant Dearness Allowance, citing financial constraints, necessitates intervention by the Kerala Administrative Tribunal. The petition urges the tribunal to issue a favourable order in this regard.

During the hearing, the Tribunal emphasized that financial crises or other issues cannot be considered in this matter. The Tribunal directed the government to clarify its position and inform the court of its decision by December 11. Failure to do so may result in the tribunal issuing its own order regarding the petition.
