Over 45,000 devotees had darshan at Sabarimala yesterday

Pathanamthitta: On the first day of the auspicious Malayalam month of Vrishchikam, Sabarimala yesterday(November 17) witnessed a surge in devotees, with more than 45,000 devotees having darshan .  Palliunarthal (the ritual which starts the day’s pooja) was at 2:30 am, and the Tirunada (the Sanctum doors) were ceremoniously opened at 3 am. The Neyyabhishekam time, a sacred ritual with ghee, was scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

In the presence of Tantri (Priest) Mahesh Mohanaru, the new Melashanti (Chief Priest) PN Mahesh Namboothiri, ceremoniously opened the temple door during the Vrischika Pulari ceremony.

The temple door closes at 1 pm and reopens at 3 pm, and later closes again at 11 pm by playing Harivarasanam.
