Thiruvananthapuram: MG University is making big changes according to the National Education Policy. They’re switching to a four-year degree programme and making changes to the syllabus. These changes will affect 54 different degree programmes in the university.
The new syllabus will be ready before December 15 . In the first two semesters, students will focus on learning the basics of the subject, and then they will dive deeper into the details in the following years. Notably, the evaluation for exams during these semesters will take place within the colleges, with the university providing question papers for a two-hour written test. Some papers will incorporate objective questions, while internal exams will adopt an ‘open text book’ format.
AI technology will be used to make question papers, and there will be a collection of 2000 to 4000 questions called a question bank. Colleges can also create their own syllabus in the fourth year to focus on specific aspects of the country.
Each course is designed to offer six to eight credits, and the credits to be obtained from each paper are fixed. In four years, students need to collect a total of 177 credits, and at least 133 credits are needed to get a degree. The university has a list of important programmes based on UGC guidelines, and the MG University Board of Studies decides which ones are necessary.
