Kannur: A man was denied help when he fell ill while travelling on a bus. The elderly man, identified as Sreedharan, was travelling from Dharmassala to Kannur. Neither the staff of the bus nor the fellow passengers helped him by believing that he was drunk.

Sreedharan is a bus operator’s association worker. He suddenly fell ill while travelling on a bus. He became tired and was unable to stand straight or tie his dhoti properly. He couldn’t even get down from the bus, even when the bus reached the last stop. He asked for the help of the fellow passengers, but they didn’t assist him because of his slurred speech. They thought that he was intoxicated.

At that time, the bus restarted its journey back to Kanhangad, with Sreedharan still inside the bus. The conductor took money from his pocket and gave him a ticket. He spent almost three hours on the bus. Later, when the bus reached Kannur at 8 pm, he landed at the bus stop and sought help from others. But no one was ready to take him to the hospital, and he collapsed at the bus stop. When he became conscious, he contacted his son, and his son transferred him to the hospital with the help of others. The police have registered a case against the employees of the bus based on this incident.
