Thiruvananthapuram: The controversy surrounding the Robin bus, which operated from Pathanamthitta to Coimbatore, has taken a new turn as the Department of Motor Vehicles (MVD) has officially cancelled its permit. The decision to revoke the permit stems from the bus’s consistent violations of laws. The decision was made by the Secretary of the Department of Motor Vehicles. The permit was registered in the name of K Kishore.
The MVD seized the Robin bus recently, accusing it of continuous permit violations, and subsequently transferred the vehicle to the Pathanamthitta police camp. A legal case has been filed against the bus for its repeated permit violations, and in addition, the Motor Vehicle Department has taken further actions, including the cancellation of the driver’s licence.
The Robin bus, which obtained its permit on August 30, has faced multiple instances of being fined for operating as a stage carriage bus. Gireesh, the individual in charge of the bus, was arrested by the police in connection with a check case registered in 2012. Gireesh alleges that there is a deliberate attempt to discredit him.
