Thrissur: A family from Chalakudy has accused Thrissur Medical College of medical malpractice, claiming that an erroneous diagnosis at the medical facility resulted in the tragic death of their fifth-grade daughter.
The incident began on the 20th of last month when Anat, a fifth-grade student, was taken to a local clinic near her home due to abdominal pain. Subsequently, she was brought to Chalakudy Taluk Hospital, where she received medication. However, after two days, due to persistent stomach pain, she returned to the hospital, where an examination revealed appendicitis. The doctors recommended transferring her to another hospital.
The child was then taken to Thrissur Medical College for further evaluation. Despite undergoing scans and other tests, the hospital reportedly discharged her, asserting that there was nothing wrong. Unfortunately, on the 26th, the child’s health became worse, and she became weak after vomiting. The family rushed her to a private hospital, but tragically, her life could not be saved.
The family alleges that the misdiagnosis at Thrissur Medical College was a crucial factor leading to the death of their daughter. In response to the tragedy, the family has announced their intention to file a complaint with the Chief Minister and the Health Minister, urging a thorough investigation into the incident.
