Pathanamthitta: In response to a surge in devotees despite intermittent rains, Sabarimala implemented the Tirupati model of a queuing system on an experimental basis for four hours on Sunday. The decision aimed to manage the increasing flow of pilgrims and prevent overcrowding.

According to a report, the queuing system is executed between Marakoottam and Saramkuthi using three queue complexes, with the schedule for opening these complexes directed by the police from Sannidhanam. Officials from the Devaswom Board reported that the experiment proved successful, leading to the decision to implement the system on days with a high pilgrim influx.

With 85,000 individuals booking their darshan slots through the virtual queue facility, the past three days saw over 80,000 pilgrims each day. The Nadapanthal, a covered corridor for pilgrims to reach the shrine, remained consistently filled with devotees. As the demand continues, a total of 89,996 individuals have booked for Darshan on Monday, with 60,000 bookings recorded for Tuesday.
