Thiruvananthapuram: Three local leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI (M)] have been arrested in connection with widespread attacks in Maranalloor, Thiruvananthapuram. The arrested individuals include Abhishakth, a member of the Ooruttambalam Local Committee from Pappanamcode Kizhakkumkara House, along with DYFI workers Pradeep and Vishnu.
Last night, the accused vandalised a house and targeted approximately 20 vehicles parked in the Maranalloor area. The attackers also damaged crops and created an atmosphere of terror in the area.
According to the police, a three-member gang led by the CPI (M) branch secretary is responsible for the series of violent incidents in Maranalloor. The police report suggests that the culprits were under the influence of alcohol during the attacks. The arrested individuals are scheduled to be produced in court today.
This incident follows a series of similar gang attacks in the region. Some residents mentioned that this was the second instance of attacks by CPI (M) members in the Maranalloor area.
