Thiruvananthapuram: The much-anticipated 28th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) is poised to commence tomorrow, offering cinephiles a diverse cinematic experience. According to a report, the inaugural film, ‘Goodbye Julia,’ directed by Sudanese filmmaker Mohamed Kordofani, will set the stage for the festival’s 10-day celebration of global cinema.
This year’s festival promises to be a tribute to cinematic excellence, paying homage to 12 legendary filmmakers through screenings of their notable works. Highlighted entries include the Iranian masterpiece ‘A Minor’ by Dariush Mehrjui, ‘The Tree Goddess’ by Sumitra Peries, and ‘Cousin Angelica’ by Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura.
Adding an international flavour, the festival will shine a spotlight on Cuba, featuring screenings of six Cuban films. This thematic celebration aims to provide audiences with a diverse cinematic journey, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of global filmmaking.
