Thrissur: Police have arrested a five-member gang involved in the abduction of a young man following a nursing admission scam. The victim, Joshi Mathew, is a native of Thrissur. He was kidnapped and beaten up.
Reports reveal that Joshi’s friend, Akhil, extorted Rs 18 lakh from the accused in the name of nursing admission. Joshi was kidnapped by the gang to get back this money.
Yesterday morning, Joshi was forcibly taken into a vehicle near the Palarivattom Bridge. He was beaten up by the perpetrators, who also seized his gold necklace and Rs 30,000, as per police reports. The accused were arrested from various locations.
