Thrissur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ‘Sthree Shakti Sangamam’ in Thrissur on January 2, said BJP state president K Surendran. The event which is planned by the BJP is aimed at safeguarding women’s rights in the state.
K Surendran said that there is no protection for women and children in Kerala. He said in a press conference held in Thrissur that there was serious misconduct in the Vandiperiyar case. There was political intervention to save the accused. The Home Department, which is managed by the Chief Minister, has committed an unjustifiable lapse. It is the CPI(M) leaders who intervened in this case. This case is a shame for Kerala.
Women are not safe at work. Even on the government’s Manaveeyam Veedhi road, incidents of assaults on women are reported. There is no mechanism in the state to monitor criminals who attack women. All high-profile assault cases on women against CPI(M)’s top leaders were quashed by the party by appointing inquiry commissions. In Kerala, the fence itself is eating the crop, said the BJP state president.
No action has been taken beyond claiming the state as women-friendly. Surendran said that it is in response to this situation that the BJP is planning to organize the Streeshakti Sangamam in Thrissur. The event, which will be attended by two lakh women from various sectors, including Anganwadi, National Rural Employment, Kudumbashree, and others, will provide an opportunity for these women to interact with the Prime Minister. Surendran said that this event will also serve as a platform to extend Kerala’s greetings to the Prime Minister for for passing the historic Women’s Reservation Bill.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Finance Minister Balagopal are reiterating the lies they have been telling against the Centre. The state government says that local bodies should pay for the welfare pensions, imposing an additional burden on them who have already contributed to the Navakerala Sadas.
The Finance Minister who is against the Center, is not talking about the 25,000 crores to be paid as arrears by the big corporations. The Chief Minister’s strategy of creating anti-Central sentiment by spreading lies to cover up the government’s incompetence will no longer work, said BJP state president. The Chief Minister knows that when the Prime Minister will come, the false propaganda will fall apart. That is why the discomfort is increasing. K Surendran asked on what basis the Center should give money to the state government to extort.
The press conference was also attended by State General Secretary C Krishnakumar, Secretary A Nagesh, District President KK Anishkumar, Regional President V Unnikrishnan and others.
