THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Followed by yesterday’s agitation at Thiruvananthapuram Secretariat by the Youth Congress, the police have filed a case against Congress leader VD Satheesan.
Responding to this, Opposition leader VD Satheesan accused Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan of inciting violence during the ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ campaign programme. Satheesan alleged that from the beginning of the campaign, Pinarayi Vijayan had been encouraging violence among DYFI members and attacking protesters.
Satheesan accused the Chief Minister of defending violence against the protesters, stating that the Chief Minister called for actions to safeguard lives. He emphasized the incident where DYFI members brutally attacked protesters during the ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ programme at the Kalyasseri Assembly constituency in Madayipara, Kannur district. According to Satheesan, a group of DYFI activists attempted to murder protesters using helmets, flower pots, and iron rods. Satheesan further accused Pinarayi Vijayan of justifying this attack.
Satheesan criticized Pinarayi Vijayan, stating that the Left government was losing public favour progressively.
VD Satheesan mocked DYFI by highlighting an incident where CPI(M) and DYFI activists fled while Yuva Morcha protested on December 19 in Kollam. He firmed that the Congress would no longer remain silent against DYFI’s attacks and would respond in the similar manner.
Satheesan also alleged that the Chief Minister of Kerala is consistently surrounded by goons, criminals, and drug mafia.
In connection with yesterday’s Secretariat agitation, the police have charged Satheesan with attacking police officers and causing damage to public property during the march.
