THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala witnesses a record hike in liquor sales during the Christmas season. Reports indicate that liquor sales in the state surpassed Rs 70.73 crores in a single day (December 24). Comparatively, on December 24, 2022 liquor sales amounted to Rs 69.55 crore.
Liquor worth Rs 154.77 crore was also sold through Kerala State Beverages (Manufacturing & Marketing) Corporation Ltd (BEVCO) outlets in three days.
According to yesterday’s figures, Chalakudy recorded the highest liquor sales, with a total worth of Rs 63,85,290 sold in that area alone.
Following closely behind are Changanassery with sales worth Rs. 62,87,120, Irinjalakuda at Rs. 62,31,140, Powerhouse Road in Thiruvananthapuram with Rs. 60,08,130, and North Paravur at Rs. 51,99,570.
Reports indicate that BEVCO might surpass its previous years’ profits from liquor sales by this December 31.
