Thiruvananthapuram: Pazhayidom Mohanan Namboothiri will once again, take up the charge of running the kitchen at the upcoming Kerala State School Kalolsavam (Art Festival). Pazhayidom had earlier announced that he will be not make food at the Kalolsavam venues in the coming years due to the non-veg controversy. But he participated in the tender called for catering when the government announced that only vegetarian food would be served this time too.
Pazhayidom said that he will be at the Kalolsavam Kitchen as the problems he had raised, has been solved. From the three people who submitted tenders for the catering service during Kalolsavam, the food committee decided to select Pazhayidom Mohanan Namboothiri for this year again.

Last year, a controversy arose when there was a demand to introduce non-vegetarian dishes at the Kalolsavam venues. Several people had taken to social media to criticise the government’s decision to serve only vegetarian dishes at the venue. Offensive allegations rose against Pazhayidom Mohanan Namboothiri which led him to announce that he would not be returning to run the kitchen for the following year’s event. Pazhayidom and his team have been preparing the meals at the Kalolsavam venue for the past 16 years.

Kerala State School Kalolsavam is scheduled to start in Kollam on January 3. During the first meeting of the Kalolsavam Organising Committee, the Minister of Education, V Sivankutty, had declared that only vegetarian food would be served at the Kerala State School Kalolsavam.
