Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned Malayalam writer KB Sreedevi (84) has passed away at her son’s residence in Tripunithura after an extended period of treatment for age-related ailments. The funeral is scheduled for today at 4 pm in Tripunithura.
Born on May 1, 1940, in Vaniyambalam, Malappuram district, KB Sreedevi was the daughter of VMC Narayanan Bhattathippad and Gowri Antharjanam. She was married to Brahmadathan Namboodiripad.
Her literary contributions primarily revolved around Bharatheeya mythology and folklore. Notable works include ‘Yajnjam,’ ‘Moonnam Thalamura,’ ‘Chanakkallu,’ ‘Mukhathodu Mukham,’ among others.
Sreedevi received numerous awards, including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contributions and the Kerala State Film Award for Story. In 1975, she won the Kerala State Film Award for her story ‘Niramala’.
