Thiruvananthapuram: Popular film director Priyadarshan has started the production of a docudrama on the history of the Ayodhya Ram Temple. It is reported that the docudrama tells the story of real events from 1883 until the ‘Prana Pratishtha’ (Consecration) ceremony scheduled for January 22, 2024.
Covering key incidents in Bharatheeya history, the Mughal invasion, Ayodhya dispute, legal battles, and court verdicts, the docudrama is expected to be a significant milestone in Priyadarshan’s illustrious career.
Known for directing popular films such as ‘Kalapani,’ ‘Kunjali Marakkar,’ and ‘Kanchivaram,’ Priyadarshan expressed his pride in helming a project focused on the Ayodhya Ram Temple. He acknowledged that directing docudramas on nationally prioritized topics presents unique challenges. Priyadarshan reminisced about his childhood, where he grew up listening to the recitation of the Ramayana in his home.
The docudrama will feature major shooting locations in Ayodhya, Lucknow, Varanasi, Delhi, Chennai, Kochi, and Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. Notably, the chief cinematographer for the project is the popular cinematographer Divakar Mani.
