Thiruvananthapuram: In a bid to enhance cricket infrastructure in the state, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) is actively seeking private investment for development projects related to cricket facilities. The KCA’s has submitted a proposal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to boost grounds located at Mangalapuram in Thiruvananthapuram and in Krishnagiri, with the latter being constructed in Kochi with support from the BCCI.
KCA President Jayesh George presented the comprehensive project proposal to the BCCI during the International Sports Summit, outlining the vision to foster cricket development in the region through collaboration with private investors.
Cochin Sports City, sprawling across 40 acres of land, boasts a significant portion dedicated to an international cricket stadium and training grounds, covering 20 acres. The remaining space is allocated for ambitious projects that require private investment, including the establishment of hotels and convention centres.
In Mangalapuram and Krishnagiri, adjoining land areas to the cricket grounds have been earmarked for private participation projects. This strategic move by the KCA not only seeks to bolster the cricketing facilities but also opens avenues for private entities to contribute to the development of sports-related infrastructure in the state.
