Thiruvananthapuram: Following the SFI goons’ attack on Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan in Nilamel, Kollam, the Kerala State Education Minister V Sivankutty expressed support for the attackers. Today morning, a group of SFI activists rushed towards the Governor’s vehicle with a black flag.
In response to the Governor’s actions, Sivankutty supported the SFI attackers and criticized Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s actions as a roadshow. Sivankutty added that the Governor is challenging the Kerala government and asserted that the Left government of Kerala would not be intimidated by such challenges.
In the face of frequent blockades by the SFI, the Governor got out of the car and confronted the attackers, questioning the state police about their security duties.
Governor questioned about the security measures and how they would be provided if it were the Chief Minister facing such an incident. In response to the attack, the Governor asked the police why they did not enhance security despite having information about the SFI attack. Arif Mohammad Khan urged the police to register an FIR against the attackers. Only after the police registered an FIR, the Governor resumes his travel to Kottarakkara.
Meanwhile, the Education Minister’s statement faces criticism from several corners, as his statements seem to be encouraging SFI members to engage in further acts of violence.
However, hours after the incident, the Union Home Ministry decided to grant Z+ Security cover of CRPF commandos to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Kerala Raj Bhavan.
