Thiruvananthapuram: In a move against the drug trade, the Kerala police conducted Operation D-Hunt on Saturday, apprehending 285 individuals and filing 281 cases across the state. This anti-drug drive targeted individuals involved in drug peddling, storage, sale, and consumption.

The operation involved the interrogation of 1,820 individuals suspected of being associated with drug peddling, leading to the registration of 281 cases for the possession of various narcotic substances. Operation D-Hunt, implemented as part of a wider crackdown on drug gangs, took action against those found to be in possession of prohibited drugs.

According to an official statement issued on Sunday, the raids conducted on Saturday resulted in the seizure of several kilograms of illegal substances, including MDMA, ganja, hashish oil, brown sugar, and more. The confiscated narcotics were revealed to be worth lakhs of rupees in the international market.

Operation D-Hunt was launched after a month of preparation, including the compilation of a database of regular drug dealers and monitoring individuals associated with those who have previously served prison terms in drug-related cases.
