Former Government Pleader accused in rape case surrenders in Ernakulam

Ernakulam: PG Manu, a former government pleader, surrendered at the Puthenkurishu Police Station in Ernakulam in connection to a rape case. Earlier, Manu’s bail plea was rejected by the Kerala High Court and the Supreme Court. The High Court had also ordered him to surrender before the investigation team within ten days.

According to police records, the woman aged 26, a victim of a 2018 rape case, sought legal assistance from Manu was raped by him at his office in Kadavanthra, Ernakulam. The victim woman stated that she was raped by Manu on October 10, 2023. She further mentioned that she was again molested and blackmailed using video footage. Additionally, in her complaint, she detailed being subjected to torture and threats, warning her against revealing information about the incident.

Following the victim’s complaint in November 2023, the Advocate General mandated and received a written resignation letter from PG Manu. Manu has worked as a prosecutor and special prosecutor in many criminal cases.
