Ernakulam: Two more accused were arrested in the case of the former Government Pleader PG Manu, who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman seeking legal assistance. Yesterday, the police arrested Manu’s junior, Adv Joby, and his driver, Eldhose, for conspiring to destroy evidence related to the case.
Earlier, on January 31, Manu surrendered at the Puthencruz DySP’s office after a lookout notice was issued by the police. Both the High Court and the Supreme Court denied his anticipatory bail. The High Court also ordered him to surrender before the investigation team within ten days.
According to police records, the 26-year-old woman, a victim of a 2018 rape case, sought legal assistance from Manu and was allegedly raped by him on October 10, 2023, at his office in Kadavanthra, Ernakulam. She complained that she was again molested and blackmailed using video footage. Additionally, in her complaint, she detailed being subjected to torture and threats, warning her against revealing information about the incident.
Following the victim’s complaint in November 2023, the Advocate General mandated and received a written resignation letter from PG Manu. In addition to the sexual harassment case under section 376 of the IPC, the police have also registered a case under the IT Act.
