Kochi: The sentencing of ISIS terrorist Aboobacker in the case of planning a terrorist attack in Kerala is scheduled for today. The NIA court in Kochi will pronounce the verdict, having proven all charges against the accused.
The accused faced three charges, including two under UAPA(Unlawful Activities Prevention Act). Riyas Aboobacker, a native of Kollengode, Palakkad, was apprehended by the NIA during the ongoing investigation of the Kasaragod IS case and has been in jail for more than five years.
The investigative team found significant evidence proving a plan to carry out a series of bomb blasts in the state. Aboobacker was apprehended while preparing for a terrorist attack, as evidenced by voice clips, among other things. Initially, three people, including him, were involved in the case. But later, two individuals became approvers in the case.
