Wayanad: Minister for Forest and Wildlife, AK Saseendran, announced that the wild elephant responsible for the death of an individual in Mananthavady will be captured using a tranquilizer dart. The minister stated that the order for the capture will be issued soon. Additionally, he mentioned the possibility of bringing kumki elephants to Wayanad if necessary.
“The situation will be reported to the court. Officials are unable to take action due to protests. People should exercise restraint”, AK Saseendran said . The minister added that the Chief Minister is assessing the situation.
Earlier, the wild elephant descended into the residential area of Padamala around 4 am today, resulting in the tragic death of Ajeesh Kumar (46), who was trampled. Ajeesh who was seriously injured in the attack was admitted to the hospital, where he passed away. Consequently, people in Mananthavady are protesting while carrying Ajeesh’s deceased body.
