Thiruvananthapuram: In response to recent violent incidents within the state, the Intelligence Bureau has advised the Home Department to bolster the state’s intelligence system. The primary focus of this recommendation lies in enhancing monitoring capabilities concerning communalists, criminal elements, and individuals embroiled in criminal cases.

Key recommendations include the urgent appointment of 12 Circle Inspectors (CIs), 22 Sub-Inspectors (SIs), and 45 Senior Civil Police Officers to the Special Branch. Additionally, there’s an emphasis on fortifying the technological aspects of intelligence gathering, with suggestions to procure modern software for monitoring dark web activities, cryptocurrency transactions, and social media channels. Moreover, the integration of AI-based technologies for fact verification has been proposed.

Recognizing potential security vulnerabilities, the Intelligence Bureau has advised strengthening intelligence operations at airports and ports, citing concerns over potential infiltration of terrorists via coastal routes. To address crimes, they proposed the formation of a specialized investigative unit. Moreover, the department emphasized the necessity of enhancing data collection among migrant workers to fortify the state’s security measures.
