Wayanad: The Kerala Police have issued a lookout notice for four veterinary students accused in the death of Siddharth, a second-year BVSc (Bachelor of Veterinary Science) student found dead at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University campus in Pookode, Wayanad district. The lookout notice has been issued for Soud Risal, Ayay Kumar, Kashinathan RS, and Sinjo Johnson.
It is reported that 12 more students have been added to the accused list in connection with the case. Of these, 10 have been barred from attending classes and appearing in examinations. It is reported that they threatened and assaulted Siddharth. The other 2 students have been prohibited from taking internal examinations as Siddharth was beaten in front of them and they did not take him to the hospital. They have also been expelled from the hostel.
Reports also indicate that action has been taken against other students in the hostel for failing to file a complaint. All those who witnessed the violence and did not respond have also been suspended from the college and hostel for seven days. This punishment applies to those present in the hostel on February 16, 17, and 18. The action was taken by the Anti-Ragging Committee of the University, which has mentioned that students may appeal to the University Vice Chancellor against this decision.
Earlier, 19 veterinary students of the University were banned from attending classes and appearing in examinations for three years in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, there is significant criticism against the Dean and college authorities. It is reported that Dean Dr. MK Narayanan is favouring SFI attackers by providing them security and covering up their violent acts. ABVP protests and demands action against college authorities who have sided with the criminal students.
