Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to make an entry into the digital entertainment arena with the launch of CSpace, the country’s first government-backed OTT platform. The app is scheduled to launch this Thursday.

Every submission to the platform undergoes evaluation by three curators from the panel, who assess its artistic, cultural, and entertainment value. Only content endorsed by the curators will be featured on the platform.

The platform will function on a pay-per-view model, allowing viewers to buy a feature film for Rs 75 and shorter content at a reduced rate. Upon purchase, viewers can access the content for up to three months if it is left unviewed. Once paid, the content remains available for 72 hours. Each user ID permits usage on three devices. The app is downloadable from both Playstore and Apple store. Users will receive notifications regarding new updates and added content.

Managed by Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), a state-owned entity dedicated to promoting Malayalam cinema and industry, CSpace operates under the auspices of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala. To ensure quality content selection, KSFDC has assembled a panel of 60 curators, comprising eminent cultural personalities from the state, including Benyamin, OV Usha, Santhosh Sivan, Shyamaprasad, Sunny Joseph, and Jeo Baby.

According to an official statement released on Tuesday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the OTT platform at Kairali Theatre, Thiruvananthapuram on March 7 at 9:30 am, with Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian presiding over the event.
