Pathanamthitta: Months after being accused of assaulting a female student at Mount Zion Law College in Pathanamthitta, DYFI leader Jaison Joseph surrendered to the police at the Pathanamthitta DySP Office. Jaison Joseph serves as the Perunad block Secretary and is a member of the CPI(M) area committee.

The assault took place on December 20, 2023. Despite the woman law student at Mount Zion Law College filing a complaint to the police, no action was taken against the DYFI leader at the time. Meanwhile, another case was filed against the woman law student.

Later, after several protests from students, the police filed the case of assault against Jaison Joseph.

On January 9, the Kerala High Court rejected Jaison Joseph’s anticipatory bail. Despite the rejection of his plea, the police failed to arrest Jaison Joseph, sparking widespread criticism.
