Ernakulam: Amicus curiae have stated that vloggers should review the movie only two days after its theatrical release. The report by the amicus curiae, Adv. Syam Padman which was submitted to the High Court, contains about 10 regulations, such as avoiding revealing the content of the film and refraining from making personal attacks and negative remarks. It is also noted that reviews should be published only 48 hours after the movie’s release. Shyam Padman submitted this report to the High Court as part of an effort to combat the review bombing.

Amicus Curiae Syam Padman submitted the report in response to petitions filed by Mubin Rauf, director of the movie ‘Aromalinte Aadhyathe Pranayam,’ and other film producers. These petitions seek to restrict vloggers from posting negative reviews of a film on its release date and from airing negative reports from the theatre premises.

Furthermore, the court directed the state police chief to formulate a code of conduct for publishing film reviews, and it has already been submitted to the court. Additionally, the police have initiated legal action against certain reviewers based on the complaints filed by the producers.

The amicus curiae’s recommendations also call upon the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to issue guidelines regulating movie reviews by social media influencers, known as ‘vloggers.’ The report underscores the importance of using polite language and refraining from personal attacks or derogatory remarks against film personnel.
