Kochi: Actor Tovino Thomas has stepped forward to express his solidarity with singer and music director Jazzy Gift, who faced humiliation during the program at St. Peter’s College in Kolencherry, Ernakulam.
In a social media post, Tovino conveyed his support for Jazzy Gift, stating that he is a huge fan of Jazzy Gift and that his songs have made Tovino’s childhood days beautiful. Tovino expressed deep disappointment over the recent incident of mistreatment during the college event, emphasising that no artist deserves such treatment. Tovino declared his solidarity with Jazzy Gift and assured him of his complete support.
The incident occurred on March 14 at St. Peter’s College, Kolencherry, where the principal of the college, Binuja Joseph, interrupted Jazzy Gift’s performance by forcibly taking the mic from Jazzy Gift’s hand while he was signing on the stage. In response, Jazzy Gift protested and promptly left the stage. The incident has sparked controversy, with many individuals, including celebrities, rallying behind Jazzy Gift in solidarity.
Following the controversy, the college principal offered a peculiar explanation for her actions. She stated that the management had granted permission only for Jazzy Gift alone to perform. She raised objections to Sajin, another singer, performing alongside Jazzy Gift, stating that the organizers had obtained permission for Gift’s performance and not for anyone else.
