New Delhi: Renowned Malayalam poet Prabha Varma has been honoured with the prestigious Saraswati Samman for the year 2023. His work, ‘Roudra Sathwikam’, a novel in verse, has been recognised with this esteemed award. The novel delves into the enduring conflict between art and power.
The announcement marks a significant moment as a Keralite is being awarded the Saraswati Samman after a gap of 12 years. Prabha Varma expressed his gratitude for the national-level recognition, stating his happiness at receiving the award.
Notable figures in Malayalam literature, including Balamani Amma, K. Ayyappa Paniker, and Sugathakumari, have previously been honoured with the Saraswati Samman.
