Johannesburg: A massive fire has claimed the lives of 74 individuals. The fire that erupted in a five-story building where refugees resided has left over 500 people seriously injured, in addition to the tragic loss of 74 lives in Johannesburg. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the scene of the incident.
The fire ignited on Thursday morning at approximately 1:30 a.m. local time. Numerous burn victims have been admitted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Apart from hosting refugees, Johannesburg also provides residence for an estimated 15,000 homeless individuals. This area has unfortunately witnessed multiple fire incidents in the past.
