British PM Rishi Sunak applauds India’s global rise under PM Modi’s leadership; expresses support for G20 presidency

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak praised India’s rise as a major global power under the leadership of Narendra Modi, hailing it as a remarkable achievement. He extended his heartfelt best wishes to Narendra Modi, especially as India took the helm of the G20 during a time marked by formidable global challenges. Sunak expressed optimism and support for Narendra Modi’s endeavors during this crucial period.

He made these statements in an interview with PTI just days before the G20 summit scheduled for September 9 and 10. He emphasised that the future will play a defining role in shaping the relationship between the UK and India, more so than the current circumstances. Sunak said Britain will work closely with India, which holds the G20 presidency, to tackle the world’s biggest challenges, from stabilising the global economy to tackling climate change.
