Ottawa: Amid a growing diplomatic rift between Bharat and Canada, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that Canada remains committed to forging close ties with Bharat. The Canadian Prime Minister responded to the ongoing crisis in the relationship between the two countries, particularly in light of the killing of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June. He addressed these matters during an interview with foreign media.

Trudeau emphasized the significance of Canada’s cooperation with Bharat, recognizing Bharat’s prominence on the global stage as a rapidly emerging economic power. He stated, “Canada is now dedicated to strengthening its bonds with India. We are proceeding with all our partners, including India, in a tactful and responsible manner.”

In a separate development, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a meeting today in Washington, the American capital. It is reported that diplomatic issues between Bharat and Canada were discussed during this meeting. Following the leaders’ meeting, the State Department spokesperson indicated that efforts are underway to resolve the issues between the two countries.
