Washington: India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, has stated that the relationship between India and Russia remains stable. Furthermore, he emphasized that as Russia’s relations with Western nations have deteriorated, Moscow has increasingly shifted its focus towards strengthening ties with Asian countries, including India. During a media inquiry in Washington, DC, he addressed the state of India-Russia relations in the backdrop of the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

Over the past seven decades, global international relations have undergone significant and far-reaching transformations. Russia’s relations with Western countries have notably deteriorated in the aftermath of the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Jaishankar also highlighted that, despite Russia’s historical role as a European power, it is currently shifting its focus toward Asia. Jaishankar also underscored that the catalyst for this significant shift in Russia’s approach is the impact of developments in Ukraine.

The External Affairs Minister is presently in Washington, DC, for a five-day visit. Jaishankar arrived in Washington, DC, on Wednesday after delivering his address at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
