Tel Aviv: In response to growing humanitarian concerns, the Israeli government has granted approval for the regular delivery of fuel to Gaza. According to reports from CNN, two fuel tankers crossed into Gaza via the Rafah crossing on Friday, following the endorsement by Israel’s war cabinet.

The tankers, carrying a total of 60,000 liters of diesel fuel, are authorized for use by international organizations, with a focus on supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), as stated by Israel military spokesperson Rear Daniel Hagari.

Under this newly approved measure, 140,000 liters of fuel will be delivered to Gaza every 48 hours, with a significant portion earmarked for essential needs such as water and sewage, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the US State Department in communication, according to CNN.

The decision to implement this measure was made collaboratively with the Israel Defense Forces and Israel’s International Security Academy, ensuring alignment with operational goals and emphasizing that it does not provide support to Hamas, clarified by the Israel military spokesperson.

The rationale behind this decision is rooted in the need to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and prevent the potential spread of pandemics.
