Canberra: Australian officials have assured that the country’s latest education policy will not negatively impact students from Bharat. The government clarified that the revised migration strategy, formulated in response to increased migration post-COVID, will not adversely affect students from Bharat.
Under the terms of the Australia-Bharat Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement, the conditions between the countries will be maintained under the new migration strategy. Graduate students availing the temporary graduate visa will maintain their eligibility period: two years for completing undergraduate degrees, three years for masters, and four years for PhD programs. Authorities have affirmed that they can stay there for up to 18 months. Further checks will only take place if the visa application appears to be fraudulent. Some additional tests are also included as part of the English language aptitude tests.
The government sources have emphasised that this policy will not affect genuine graduate students. Officials have assured Indian students that there are no concerns to be alarmed about. They highlight that the new policy aims to foster skilled workers, benefiting professions such as drivers and heavy machine operators.
