New Delhi: Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has faced a challenging year, and her recent loss at the US Open 2023 quarterfinals against Gao Fang Jie from the Republic of China has left a profound emotional impact on the two-time Olympic medalist. Despite the setback, Sindhu is determined to turn this disappointment into a catalyst for a remarkable comeback.

In a Twitter post on Monday, PV Sindhu expressed the impact of her loss, stating, “This loss has left a significant emotional impact on me, especially considering the challenging and demanding year I’ve had. However, I am determined to channel my emotions into redoubling my efforts and making the remainder of the year truly remarkable.”

Sindhu acknowledged her opponent, Gao Fang Jie, for her impressive performance that led to the straight-game defeat with scores of 22-20 and 21-13 in Iowa. Recognising Gao’s skill in exploiting her weaknesses, Sindhu praised her for being well-prepared and delivering a commendable performance. She vowed to make their next encounter a fierce battle, indicating her determination to improve and overcome future challenges.

The US Open loss adds to a series of disappointing results Sindhu has experienced this season. Despite reaching the final at the Madrid Masters, she fell short in the decisive match. Now, as Sindhu prepares for the Korea Open, which commences on Tuesday, she faces a tough draw that will test her resilience and determination.
