Mumbai: Mumbai Indians team management’s decision to replace the seasoned captain Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya has left Mumbai Indians fans in shock. The team management officially announced this news yesterday through their social media page.

Last night, a video was circulated on social media showing fans burning Mumbai Indians’ caps and jerseys in protest of the unexpected captaincy shift.

Rohit Sharma, who led the team to five IPL titles since 2013, holds a special place in the hearts of Mumbai Indians supporters. Despite the captaincy change, 36-year-old Rohit Sharma will continue to play for the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming season.

It’s doubtful if Rohit play in another ODI World Cup, but there’s a chance he might lead Bharat again in the T20 World Cup in six months. Hardik was made captain of Mumbai Indians as a step towards the future.
