Thiruvananthapuram: Google has unveiled its annual list of the most searched sports stars and teams, providing insight into the athletes and events that captured global attention throughout the year.

Topping the list of most searched athletes is American football star Damar Hamlin, who gained international headlines after collapsing on the field during a game in January. Hamlin’s remarkable comeback story saw him return to the field in October following a full recovery from a cardiac arrest, making him a symbol of resilience and determination.

In second place is French football sensation Kylian Mbappé, a key figure at Paris Saint-Germain, with speculation surrounding a potential move to Real Madrid or Saudi Arabia. The football theme continues with England’s Harry Kane securing the fifth spot, showcasing his impressive performances at his latest club, Bayern Munich.

Tennis also made its mark in the top searches, with Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz claiming the sixth and seventh positions, respectively. Meanwhile, basketball enthusiasts were eager to know more about Ja Morant and Kyrie Irving, who secured the fourth and tenth spots in the rankings, respectively.

New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, who averaged over 64 runs per game, became the subject of widespread speculation, securing the eighth spot.
