Paarl, South Africa: Captain KL Rahul applauded Keralite player Sanju Samson for his remarkable century that played a pivotal role in Bharat’s series victory against South Africa. Rahul expressed admiration for Samson, calling him a phenomenal player who, unfortunately, doesn’t often get the opportunities he deserves.
“Sanju is a phenomenal player in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Unfortunately, he doesn’t get many chances to play in the top order . There are many reasons for that. But I’m very happy to see him playing well today,” said Rahul, acknowledging Samson’s talent and the limited chances he has received.
He continued, “It is a pleasure to spend time with the young players, returning to ODI cricket on a positive note after the disappointment of the World Cup defeat”.
Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar also showered praise on the Keralite player, predicting that Samson’s century will be a career-changing moment. Gavaskar emphasised the significance of this century in boosting Samson’s confidence amidst criticism, acknowledging the talented player’s journey and occasional challenges in translating that talent into consistent performance.
