Cricbuzz reported that Ruturaj Gaikwad will be unable to participate in the Test series as he is still in the process of recovering from the finger injury sustained during the ODI series. As a result, after consultation with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the team management decided to send the player back home. Gaikwad will undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of the medical team at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Notably, the BCCI has yet to announce a replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad in the Test series. The first Test match between Bharat and South Africa is scheduled to take place from December 26 to 30 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
