Chennai: Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill faced a setback after the team’s defeat to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 63 runs. Gill was fined Rs 12 lakh by the match referee for a slow over rate during the match against CSK.
The fine was imposed due to the team’s failure to maintain the required over rate during the match against CSK. However, as it was the first offense of the season for the Titans, the fine was limited to Rs 12 lakh. Nevertheless, any repetition of the offense in subsequent matches will lead to the player being sidelined for a match.
The defeat against Chennai was a bitter pill to swallow for the Gujarat Titans, as they struggled to mount a challenge throughout the game. Despite chasing a target of 207 runs set by Chennai, the Titans failed to assert themselves at any stage of the match, succumbing to both the batting and bowling prowess of the opposition.
