No semi-final pressure: Rahul Dravid reveals team’s consistent approach in World Cup

Bengaluru: In the wake of India’s remarkable winning streak in the World Cup, Coach Rahul Dravid shared his thoughts following the recent match against the Netherlands. Dravid acknowledged the praise showered on him and the team during this successful run but emphasised the ephemeral nature of accolades in the world of sports.

“If there’s a loss in a match, these praises will be taken away from me. All praise is only good as long as success continues. Losing a match can change everything. Later, in the eyes of critics, I will be ignorant,” cautioned Dravid, recognising the inherent challenges and scrutiny associated with coaching at the international level.

Despite the commendations, Dravid maintained a grounded perspective, emphasising the team’s focus on meticulous planning and preparation for every match. He highlighted the importance of maintaining a level-headed approach, particularly in the face of potential setbacks.

“The team plays every match with a proper plan and preparation. Always focus on the next match. There is no pressure here. We will try not to do anything special considering the semi-final as a unique match,” Dravid stated, underscoring the team’s commitment to maintaining a consistent and disciplined approach.

Dravid reserved special praise for India’s middle order, commending their ability to perform under pressure. Singling out Shreyas as the backbone of the middle order, Dravid expressed admiration for the player’s consistent contributions. “We all know how difficult it is to perform well at number four. He is the best number four player in the last ten years,” praised Dravid, recognising Shreyas’s pivotal role in the team’s success.
