Thiruvananthapuram: In the latest development from the tech giant ,Apple, led by Tim Cook, is said to be working on a new feature for the upcoming iPhone 16. According to a report, the tech giant is set to introduce prototypes of the device that include a dedicated action button designed to facilitate quick photo and video capture while holding the phone horizontally. The action button is expected to be located on the bottom right of the device, conveniently positioned under the index finger when capturing content in landscape mode.
The move follows the introduction of the iPhone 15 series in September last year, which replaced the mute button with a new action button. Now, Apple aims to make the new camera button a key selling point for the iPhone 16, similar to the strategic role played by the action button in the previous model’s marketing campaign.
A prior report from Macrumors in September had hinted at the possibility of another capacitive button, codenamed “Project Nova,” in the iPhone 16 series. This new camera button is anticipated to be a capacitive button, offering touch and pressure sensitivity and providing haptic feedback through the use of haptic engines. The report also suggested similarities to the home button on the iPhone SE.
However, the reports contradict the previous speculation, indicating that the new camera button will be mechanical, akin to a traditional button. Nonetheless, it will incorporate some capacitive features, allowing users to swipe for zoom control or apply light pressure for focusing on a subject.
