Thiruvananthapuram: The passing of Congress leader and former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has left a void in the hearts of many, with condolences pouring in from all corners. Actor Kunchacko Boban, who arrived at the airport to receive Chandy’s body, expressed his personal loss and admiration for the late leader.

Addressing the media, Kunchacko Boban spoke emotionally about his close association with Oommen Chandy, stating that his death is a major loss for him on a personal level. “I have known him for years, and that’s why I came to the airport. His demise is a significant loss for me. He is the most selfless leader I have ever met in my life. I know him personally. He was a real humanist who lived for the people,” said Boban.

Describing the warm relationship he shared with Chandy, the actor revealed that the late leader would attend all his family functions and that he had the freedom to visit Chandy’s home at any time of the day. He also highlighted Chandy’s unwavering respect for everyone, regardless of their social standing.

Boban shared a touching anecdote that exemplified Chandy’s dedication to public service. He recounted visiting Chandy’s house late at night and finding him buried amidst piles of files. Despite the late hour, Chandy was diligently attending to official matters and taking phone calls, demonstrating his tireless commitment to the welfare of the people. Boban acknowledged that, due to Chandy’s busy schedule, he refrained from engaging in casual conversation with him during that visit. This memory encapsulates Boban’s lasting impression of Chandy as a leader who valiantly battled ill health to serve the people of Kerala.
