Thiruvananthapuram: The Sakthi Vinayaka Temple at Palayam in the heart of the capital city has been at the center of the people’s life. The temple got slowly hidden from sight as the city around it grew over the past several years. However, the recent renovation works has changed all that making it more visible and part of the iconic landscape of the city center.
One of the major renovation works at the temple is the grand entrance tower constructed at a height of 60 meters with a huge statue of Lord Ganapathi, Omkar, and the Kanikamandapam (offering). Besides the grand entrance tower, renovation works of Thidapalli (place where prasadom is made), Pradikshana Patha (path for devotees to make circumambulation), surroundings of the minor deities and comfort station were done.
All these renovation work was made possible by the family owning the Uday Samudra Group of Companies. The family was felicitated by Devaswom Board President, PS Prasanth during the ceremony.
Coins consecrated at the temple were given as Vishu Kaineetam to the esteemed guests by Swami Chidanandapuri of Kolathur Advaithashram.
Uday Samudra head and MD of Janam TV, S Rajasekharan Nair, said that he is extremely happy on the completion of the renovation works at the temple. Music director, M Jayachandran, handed over new songs for the temple to Uday Samudra Group Managing Partner, Uday Chandrika Nair.
The ceremony was attended by Chenkotukonam Madathipathi Swami Brahmananda, the head of Amritanandamayi Mutt in Kaimanam Swami Sivamrithanandapuri, Aruvipuram Temple secretary, Sandrananda Swamikal, Temple Tantri, Kandaru Mohanaru, Palayam Imam, VP Suhaib Moulavi, Father Saji Illambasseril and others.
A devotional song and dance composed by Soorya Krishnamoorthy was also staged during the ceremony.
