India and Pakistan, both powerhouse teams, hold the distinction of being the joint most successful teams in the history of the Asian Champions Trophy. This year’s tournament, set to kick off on Thursday, promises to be a spectacle of exceptional skills and passion for the sport.

Mohammad Saqlain, the coach of the Pakistan Hockey Team, expressed his optimism about the team’s journey to Chennai for the Asian Champions Trophy. He emphasised the significance of sports as a tool to strengthen bilateral relations between nations. Saqlain remarked, “Through sports, we hope to build our relationship stronger,” showcasing the importance of fostering goodwill and friendship through athletic pursuits.

Bhutta emphasised the positive role of sports in nurturing relationships between nations, stressing the importance of promoting more sporting events to foster harmony and understanding.

The Asian Champions Trophy has witnessed exceptional performances by both India and Pakistan, with each nation securing victories in the tournament’s history. Pakistan clinched the title in 2012 and 2013, while India triumphed in 2011, 2016, and 2018. The shared victories in 2018 have further cemented the sportsmanship and mutual respect between the two arch-rivals on the field.
